The long and winding journey...

Wrapping it up...

It's the last day of the vacation today. No fair! It was too fast.

O yeah, before I forget, I want to thank everyone who greeted me last December 30. For those who didn't... it's OK. :p

Anyway, not much has happened since my last entry, either here in Manila OR in Tagaytay. It's just the usual bonding and fireworks displays. There's not much left to do anymore, but I'm not particularly excited with school either. It's like choosing between the devil and the deep blue sea. You have to go with the lesser evil. Darn.

Worse, the papers haven't had a lot of good news, either. (Then again, when did they?) The tsunamis have killed tens of thousands and made life that much harder for something like a million people. All we can do is donate what we can to them and pray that they may be able to recover from something this catastrophic.

Life... it can really bite sometimes.

That's it for now.

Whoa!!! Or maybe not...

It's NOT a good start to the day. Blogger was nice enough to wipe out what I just typed.

Because of that, I'm not so in the mood to make a new entry. But since I haven't posted for a while, I'll put all the events (with a few comments) in list form.

December 24: Christmas Eve, Noche Buena and opening of presents

LEGO is back... with a vengeance. I got the 1:10 scale LEGO-Ferrari! Yea!!! I open the box and... wow, that's a lot of bricks. They're all put in those 5 BIG plastic bags. My mom says I should assemble it tomorrow. Oh well...

December 25: Christmas Day

You can also call it Assembly Day. I assembled that LEGO model in a whopping 6 hours (split in two by our attending Mass). The finished product was sleek and gourgeous. (I'm obviously gaga over it!) That alone was enough to give me a sense of fulfillment that day. (Assembling it wasn't easy, you know! =p) This will be put in a glass case to be displayed in the living room. (No one is getting their hands on it... except ME!!! Bwahahahaha!!! Kidding... sorta. =p)

December 26: The Day After Christmas

We spent it by going to the mall and watching Filipino movies. (Mano Po III was superb, Lastikman was... too awful for words.) And in a shocking decision, my mom gives my first birthday present early! (To the reader: [hint hint!] =p) She buys a 1:24 scale LEGO Ferrari, as well as the drivers with podium (Schumi and Rubinho). This time, I get to assemble it before bed. After another 2 hours of assembly, the finished model looked very cute, especially with the Mini-Schumi in it. :) I duly slept at midnight.

December 27: On The Beach

I went with Miko, Anjo, Che, and Nic to Punta Fuego over at Nasugbu, Batangas. The beach was lovely (but Miko says the sunset is better), the food is scrumptuous (especially the soup!), and the pool was relaxing (even if I got a dose of the water gun a couple of times). It was a heck of a lot of fun. But I hope there's more of us next time, though.

So that's it, the past 4 days. In a word, WHOA!!!

That's all for now. Let's just hope this gets on the server properly this time.

Forza!

P.S.: Hmmm... That list form looks more like a paragraph form... O well. And remember...

The hint! =p

Lockout

I WAS supposed to post an entry last night. But I locked myself out of my own room. How the heck did I do that? (Sometimes, I can amaze even myself.) Anyway, I passed the time by talking to Abeth and Ellen last night. (Ellen called the lockout a 'bloggable moment'. =p) And I ended up sleeping on the couch too.

To make things MUCH worse, there was no cable. Also, the VHS was broken. And the DVD player downstairs was pretty much useless because almost all of my CDs and DVDs were in my locked room. (Pity me, pity me!!! Hehe...)

Other than that, yesterday was pretty much a boring day. There wasn't much to do, except play, surf, eat, and sleep (in any order). Today will be mostly more of the same (except for our reunion tonight, woohoo!)

Darn, I'm getting bored way too early this vacation. There has to be something to do around here!

Oh well, that's it for now.

I have returned.

Yup, after more than a month of silence, I've finally gotten the time (and composure) to post here again. That 'more than a month' was filled with all sorts of events, more bad than good.

First off, academics. (I won't stay long on this topic, promise!) I'm out of the Dean's List after 4 terms in it. (Goodbye unlimited cuts!) Miko said it had to happen, and it makes sense. I'm not THAT smart to stay in it all my college life. Then again, I'm luckier than others. Many of the IT subjects, especially DBAPDEV, have scarred us IT people one way or another. Something needs to be done here, I think, or else the price may become too great for many.

On a lighter note, it's almost Christmas. (which means it's almost my birthday! ) I'll be all over the place for the next two weeks (Makati, Libis, Batangas, Tagaytay), taking full advantage of this vacation. It's like drinking water from an oasis in the middle of the desert. It's as rare as rare can be.

I haven't organized my thoughts yet, but I'll write another post when I get those sorted out.

But what matters is that I'm back. :D

What a week...

Would you believe it? This week has had more ups and downs than a roller coaster. But I can narrow it down to two major details for this week. Oh yeah... Sorry if I don't post as often as I used to... I'm THAT busy.

First, the good stuff. I ended up being an organizer for the Amazing CCS Race 2004, which was held last Friday. It was really fun! It was reality TV unfolding right before my eyes. Although we had to handle a lot of technical glitches, it went very well. Ramin and Zelda buried their competition to take the victory. Congratulations!

Now, the... not-so-good stuff. DBAPDEV is due on November 25. As it is, we only have 11 days left. And there's still a lot of confusion to boot. In fact, I'm in an overnight now at a mate of ours, finishing the project. Err... I don't want to flunk this subject, but I'm having that helpless feeling... Arg. God help us all.

That's all for now.

So much for halftime.

The Cebu thing came and went... I enjoyed it, but not all that much. Thoughts of DBAPDEV (and even SYANAD) couldn't help but creep into my mind. Then again, what could I do? Both have deliverables for this week. At least I caught all with all that missed sleep. I'll be missing a lot of that again until Christmas. :p

Speaking of Cebu, we took a plane to get there and get back here. (Duh!) I'm starting to get used to it now. Plane rides used to be way too freaky for me, with all the going up and down. (not to mention turbulence!) I even used to hold on to the handlebars reeeeally tight, but not anymore. I looked too stupid doing that. :))

Hmmm... what else? Almost all motor racing is done for the year (save NASCAR), and it's kind of sad. Oh well, time to go to those VHS tapes again. Also, US elections coming up. Again, our Philippine media is hyping it up, taking great note of what will happen. Maybe it's because it'll determine what will happen to us and our government (with all those foreign aid). Since I'm sleepy right now (at 10 in the morning!), I'll just leave you to think about that.

That's it for now. (If only today was a holiday...)

It's happened... as has everything else.

Yes, my blog is stale. I haven't posted in almost a week. I've barely slept for almost a week. But at least I've been playing Diablo II for almost a week. And some other thoughts:

1. I've gotten a Sun number already! (0922-42266800) Then again, so has Ellen, Joyce Iglesia, Grace, JP, Guchi, Francis Lim, Andrew Lim, and a host of others. Switch to Sun na rin! (Yikes, Taglish!)

2. We ARE going to Cebu this weekend. (Yey!) That means some R&R for me. I really need it right now. Then again, almost all of us in school do.

3. Since we are going to Cebu this weekend, we went to the cemeteries last weekend. Now, I'm not one for going to cemeteries (and seeing all sorts of tombs and burial spots). It's nice to remember your dead, but the idea of death really creeps me out. It's one of my really big fears, death. Maybe I'm just not ready for it yet. Haaaaay....

4. So far, DBAPDEV has been merciless. We have requirements every week, an evening lab session weekly, and tons of programming to boot. I even heard we have another assignment for next week! The profs don't seem to care it's All Saints' Day weekend, when people usually use the time to reflect and rest. It seems so absurd to me (who's used to no assignments this time of year). It just plain sucks.

5. Speaking of All Saints' Day, All Souls' Day (November 2) will be a working holiday. Malacanang said that was so that the laborers could get the wage they so badly need, or something to that effect. What?! It makes no sense to me. The workers (like us students) are tired enough as it is. The Palace seem to love 3-day weekends, but abhor 4-day ones. Oh well...

6. Speaking of the government, they're pretty much in a mess right now. Despite all of their talk, they've been really trying to calm down the fracas over corruption in the military. The scale of the corruption at the top has been sickening. Honestly, I haven't seen anything this huge this side of Erap and his mansions. Miriam has picked the right side this time, let's hope she actually has the conviction to stick to it this time. Those Oakwood guys, sincere or not, were serious with what they were saying back then. Darn. If only we had listened.

7. On a lighter note, the Formula 1 season is done. JPM won in Brazil from Kimi (Did he psyche the Iceman out?), while the Ferraris were only 3rd and 7th. No matter. The race didn't matter to the Scuderia anymore anyway. What DOES matter is Melbourne 2005, and that's what have been focusing on for months now. Who'd bet against Schumi next year?

Also, the Ferrari-Lego 1:10 scale has come out. It's one of many Ferrari-Lego models released a month ago or so that cater to various ages. So far though, that model looks the hottest. It costs a bit over P4,000. But who cares??? I want one!!!!!

Phew! That's a lot! That's what I get when I'm too busy with DBAPDEV and Diablo II. Oh well. I'll see if I can post again before I leave for Cebu for the weekend. That should be a lot of fun. :p
