Fantasic!!! Racing, school, and a week on...
Wow! I expected good racing all day, and did I get it, and then some!
It started with NASCAR this morning, but I was a bit disappointed because it started an hour and a half behind. At least they cut the safety periods, so the race went a bit faster. It's sad Kasey Kahne (a brilliant rookie and a favorite of mine) spun and ended up outside the Magic 10 to contest the Nextel Cup. (He was already 10th in the championship before the race, finishing 12th in the stakes at the end of it.) O well...
The afternoon was a bit boring. I couldn't watch my F1 tapes because my sister was studying. So I slept it off. (Consequently, I missed the cheering competition.) When I woke up, I called up some old, missed friends. I talked to them for only a few minutes, because they all had important things to do. After that, I decided to call Ellen up. (First time we talked on the phone!) We just chatted about pretty much anything that came into our heads. Nothing in particular, really.
This evening, the main event finally came on! The Italian GP looked interesting with a drying track. I was on the edge of my seat as first Michael Schumacher spun, dropping to 15th, while Rubens made the wrong tyre choice, forcing him to pit very early. Despite the race looking as good as lost for the tifosi, Ferrari fought back. (Especially Michael, who was bloody fast and pulled off multiple overtaking manouvres. Good on him!) In the end, they STILL finished 1-2, Rubens from Schumi, nose-to-tail. (They even had enough time to cruise around for some laps near the end!) It wasn't only brilliant, it was fantastic! Are they fast or what???
In the end, this race showed how much ground the other teams still have to make up to the Scuderia, both speed- and strategy-wise. What's the moral of the story? Race winner Rubens said it himself, "We have to believe that whenever it's your day, it has to be your day." :D
Is it going to be my day tomorrow? That we shall see. School beckons again. Err... But anyway, it reminds me of a certain song about making it to the very end. The lyrics are below. Give it a read. :)
I got to go! But before I end, I just want to look back on this, my first week with a blog. It's attracted a lot of attention already, with moments of happiness, tension, and even a bit of sadness. I just want to thank you guys for reading, commenting, tagging, just making your presence felt around here. It gives this blog so much more color and life. Thank you so very much!
God bless! ;)
