The long and winding journey...

Let's go racing!

Well, ain't I the eager beaver? First, you'll notice the sidebar's pretty much loaded. There's already links and a tagboard! (I didn't know I can work THAT fast, hehehe...) Please patronize them (Wow, how deep.) and make them useful! :D

Second, I woke up early today to watch NASCAR, one form of racing. It's nice, lots of overtaking and slipstreaming and close competition, but it's still no Formula 1 by any means. But racing is racing whatever its form. It's weird how some people out there (you know who you are! :D) always ask what I find exciting with cars going round and round and round... and so on. I've always thought of it to be something much more than that.

You see, the fun is in the details. When you're watching, it's great to see how they go very, VERY fast (usually 200kph on average) and yet not run it into the wall (most of the time, anyway). And then, there's the overtaking (although it doesn't happen as often as it used to in F1). It's awesome to see your favorite driver or team pull off a great manouvre to move up the field! When you're part of a race yourself (see Initial D!), you can really feel the adrenaline rush while you're driving, pushing very hard to get ahead of your opponent and stay ahead. When I win in those races, it makes me feel really good about myself. If I don't, I just try and try again. Actually, if you think about it, motor racing is just like any other sport, only that it's at really high speeds. :D

But for me, motor racing is much more than a sport. It's my passion. :)

Anyway, I gotta go before I get all emotional about this. =)) That's it for the meantime.

Forza!
